Don't Delay, Take Action...today!

As a Business Coach, I regularly come across SME's that have forgotten how to take ACTION. It is one of the most common barriers that I find stopping businesses being successful.

Whilst they have shown great courage and tenacity to establish a business, a kind of torpor then sets in. The comfortable, daily routine has been created and they simply go through the set patterns, day in day out.

In the majority of cases the desire to grow and deliver everything that they wanted from the business still remains.

The problem is that they have allowed banal detail to get in the way of what they are doing. Even worse...they may have surrounded themselves with people who actively create barriers to getting on and doing things:

“I can’t do that”

“We will need to do more research”

“The resources aren’t available to do that”

“That won’t work”

I could go on, but I bet it sounds all too familiar.

One of the most common traits of all the successful entrepreneurs, I mean the ones who have created multi-million pound businesses, is that they are absolutely fanatical about making things HAPPEN.

If they have an idea, they want to get it out into the marketplace as soon as possible. If the idea works then they will start to make money...and if it doesn’t they can quickly walk away without losing a fortune.

The risk is that this often causes chaos as new ideas are acted upon, but they recognise whilst the product or service may not be perfect, they can sort it out later.

So, to achieve the success that you desire I want to encourage you to follow these 6 rules:

  1. Don’t sit on ideas...be willing to test them quickly and at low cost in the marketplace
  2. Take rational decisions. Taking action does not mean pursuing wild and high risk ideas
  3. Be very careful about who you surround yourself with and who you listen to
  4. Don’t allow your ego to take over. All entrepreneurs make mistakes, so be willing to recognize a DOG and walk away
  5. Do something different in your business each month. It may be a Marketing initiative or a Joint Venture, the launch of a new product or service, undertaking some skills development...anything will help to keep the business moving forwards.
  6. Do not allow the status quo to become the norm. Change is inevitable. Even if you stand still, your competitors won’t be static so your business will lose ground

Here’s to your continued and active, Success!
