Avoid Negative Thoughts & Ensure Your Business has a Very Prosperous New Year

Are you swayed by the negative beliefs of others?

Did you notice that before the celebrations began on New Year's Eve, the UK press, media and government were lining up to tell us what a bad year 2008 is going to be.

They would all like us to think we're in for struggle... Recession, Oil prices, Bank cash flow issues, housing crash etc.

Well, I beg to differ. I hope you will forgive me getting on my soap box a bit, but I think counteracting this message is really important!

Not only is it essential as a Business Entrepreneur that you develop a really thick skin to resist the negativity that's being bombarded at us - it's also worth remembering that outside causes, economic or otherwise, are not going to determine the year ahead for you.

There's only one key factor that will decide whether this year is a struggle or a joy for you - and that's YOU...

In the context of business, it's your willingness and ability to be smarter than the rest, smarter than the moaning people and intelligently use whatever the world offers you this year.

This all starts with your mindset

One of our biggest challenges in the year ahead is going to be to rise above the negativity.

First, let’s look at what the media have being saying...
You may have seen the headlines this week about Gordon Brown's 'Bleak New Year Message.' It turns out, even this was a lie.

While it's true that Gordon really needs to cheer up (the man leading our country seems to take comfort from the belief that life is a struggle - SO BEWARE) if you actually read the text of his message, it wasn't bleak at all!

In fact, happy Gordon is far more optimistic about politicians' abilities to handle natural economic tides than I am. But the media picked up on a couple of lines, blew them out of proportion and then wrote off 2008 for all of us.

This is potentially dangerous. If you buy into this negativity, it will affect how you feel and the decisions you make and the negativity will become a self fulfilling prophecy.

The media thrives on negativity. Expect to be bombarded with it in the year ahead....it will help sell newspapers or gain viewing figures.

Next, consider all of our politicians.
Quite simply, you have to build a life that's independent of these people. While many are actually well intentioned, that's over ridden by their sheer incompetence.

They certainly know nothing about how to run a business. That's why they're politicians, not Business Entrepreneurs. And despite their political differences, they all agree on one thing: They all want to steal half the money you earn in taxes. My advice is to spend 2008 earning enough money to enable you to ignore them.

Finally, we have an all together more pleasant group of people (hopefully.)
Your family, friends and work colleagues. None of them will buy into this negativity. They'll all be beacons of encouragement for you in 2008.

In fact, you'll spend many a happy hour in the pub with them this year as they encourage your hopes and dreams, refuse to moan about life, the economy and government and have fascinating conversations with you about the pursuit of human excellence.

Or maybe not!

Unfortunately, it's highly likely that you're the only one in your social or family group who thinks the way you do. That's why you're a successful Business Entrepreneur.

Everyone else buys into the negativity and believes that forces outside of their control (government, economy, horoscopes etc) control their destiny. That's why most of the people you know are probably employees. It doesn't mean they're not good people. But you need to be aware that some of the most dangerous negativity can come from the people you love most.

I'm not suggesting that we ignore the economic situation.

It's highly likely we're in a housing crash. A recession may be imminent. Be very aware of these factors because if they happen you may want to run your business differently. I'm just suggesting that you don't have to feel bad about these things.

You could actually get excited at the opportunities they offer. They're really just part of economic and business life. Once you realise that, and act accordingly, you're financially free.

Many people become wealthy in recessions. It's fairly easy to thrive in a recession because most of your competitors will be terrified.

So there is a threat to your business this year…but it won't come from the economy...the threat is our own fear and negativity.

So rise above it. Smile at everyone's moaning and negativity and plan your next move. Become smarter at your Marketing every week and your financial strength and stability is secure.

I hope that you're going to have a truly great 2008.

So, prove me right - and the negative thinkers wrong!

Very Best Wishes
